Job Description
Areas of Responsibility:
-To support and assist the pharmacy management in the efficient running and professional pharmaceutical
services for all customers.
-To support the growth and development of the pharmacy business and profitability.
-Ensure the highest possible standard of technical support to pharmacy teams through continuing
education and professional development.
-To read and complete all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and to adhere to their procedures within
the pharmacy.
-Ensure job responsibilities reach the required standards within a 3 to 6-month period during your
probation.
-To follow instruction from the management team and implement the standards expected in the
pharmacy.
-Ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner in line with other employees within a similar role.
-To complete all required training organised by the company for health & safety purposes.
Tasks:
-Manage the dispensary and OTC functions in a professional manner at all times.
-Maintain licences from PSI & HSE contract.
-Ensure that waiting times are minimised by the preparing of repeat prescriptions in advance for all scripts.
-Maintaining relevant records (Daily RX audit, CD, Methadone).
-Keeping up to date with professional knowledge
-Ensuring that confidentiality is maintained at all times
-Ensure Pharmacy technicians, trainee technicians and pharmacy assistants are assisted and supported in
all areas of the dispensary, while implementing competency-based training for all employees.
-Follow all company procedures and protocols especially clean, tidy access to medication, which complies
with current guidelines.
-Ensuring all health and safety guidelines for the pharmacy are maintained.
-Dispense and check prescriptions with care, following all standards and procedures to ensure the
dispensary is run efficiently.
-Encourage the use of preferred generics where possible and promote possible alternatives to customers
and dispensary staff alike.
-Liaise with customers, care institutions and local doctors as required preventing loan scripts.
-Be confident and knowledgeable, keeping all staff engaged and motivated.
-Ensuring that customer invoices including HSE claims are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
-Feeding back to staff constantly in a professional, honest and kind manner
-Regular (at least bimonthly) audits of the PSI audit tool against standards in store.
-Control of stock (ordering, checking in, returning, rotating, inter-shopping, de-blistering, disposal) and stock
levels in store, maintain and manage the use of the ethical purchasing guidelines.
-Using correct mechanisms and ordering management to ensure stock is ordered from the correct supplier
thus controlling cost.
-Ensure all shelves are correctly stocked, ensure stock is rotated and any out-of-date product is removed
and dealt with correctly
-Monitoring Controlled Drug Register and supervising disposals
Requirements
What are we looking for?
-Be registered with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland and have a minimum of three years' experience working in Ireland.
-Be a team player who wants to work with a large stable experienced team
-Have excellent patient care focus
Preferred Skills:
-Previous supervising experience is a plus, but not necessary as full support will be provided
-Be proficient in MPS computer system
